Before She Was Spring

PAVEL LENKOV:

Not every story ends where you think it does. Hers starts here.

Mischa wasn’t just my dance partner. She was like a sister, my shadow, my childhood. And then she was gone. A tragedy ripped her from my life, leaving me with nothing but grief and questions I could never answer. So I buried it all, threw myself into dancing, and never looked back.

Until today.

Because I just saw her. Not in a dream, not in an old photograph but alive and well. Now I can’t stop the stream of questions. How is this possible? Where has she been? Why did she let me believe she was dead? And most importantly, why is she lying to me?

Chasing a ghost in a small town wasn’t on my 2025 Bingo card, but I can’t let it go. I need answers, even if it unravels everything I thought I knew.

* Before She Was Spring contains graphic descriptions of facial burns and captivity. Mention of death and loss.
